Welcome to Hotel Congress

 

All 75 rooms (12 single rooms, 50 double rooms, 10 three-bed rooms with shower and bath, 
3 apartments with bath/WC, living-room with kitchinett for 1 to 4 persons) are equipped with:  minibar, radio, cable/sat TV, phone, fax and internet access.

 Service is our pleasure" is the slogan in the centrally located 3 stars hotel.

 

In the "Jugendstil" restaurant the Buffet-breakfast is served and for tourist parties several menus are offered for the choice,
á la carte kitchen is not offered. In the hotel bar you get around the clock a drink, soft drinks or hot beverages.

Today the Hotel Congress Congress offers modern comfort and it is situated near the Schloss Belvedere (castle)  and Schweizer Garten,
vis à vis the train station "Vienna South".


Vienna has many different aspects to its appearance, from the historic center with its magnificent edifices dating from many different centuries,
to the former provinces outside the once-standing city ramparts, to the green hills of the Vienna Woods.
The baroque Belvedere Palace lies very close to the historic center. It was built in 1723 by Eugen, Prince of Savoyen-Carignan known also as the "noble knight".
The castle gardens are one of the most important baroque gardens in the French style in all of Europe.

However, the sights of Vienna are not the only reason for a visit. Window shopping while strolling through the pedestrian zone of the inner city,
a musical, a night at the Opera or a cozy evening at one of the "Heuriger" (wine tasting taverns) in Grinzing are only some examples
among many possibilities that Vienna offers its visitors..     

The house is centrally located near the castle Belvedere, opposite the south railway station (south) and
it is well attainable by underground (U1 Südtiroler Platz), tram (O, 18, D), rapid-transit railway and bus from and to the airport

Getting there

The Hotel Congress is centrally located and it´s surroundings provide a great infrastructure.
The U-Bahn (Underground/Metro) station Südtirolerplatz is very near to the hotel (only 50m)
and will take you in 2 stops directly to the Wiener Staatsoper (Viennese state´s opera house),
and in three stops you will find yourself in the heart of the city (the historic centre),
on Stephansplatz (St. Stephens), from where yo will be able to explore the city.
Furthermore, in close proximity are the Schnellbahn (City Train) lines S8, S60 und S80.
The Strassenbahn(streetcar)-lines O and 18 have their stops on Südtirolerplatz as well.
Last but not least, you can easily reach us via the 13A bus.

By car

Leave the highway A2 in the direction "Zentrum", later, when on the "Triesterstrasse", turn from ther
in the direction "Südbahnhof" onto the "Gürtel". From there, drive approx. two km,
then take a left into the "Favoritenstrasse", circle the block on your right-hand-side,
and you will be in front of the Hotel Congress.
OR: Leave the highway A21 (exit: Gürtel Landstrasse), the drive past four traffic lights
(about 4 km) and you are in front of the Hotel Congress.

There is a parking garage just in opposite of the Hotel. 
To the Hotel Congress a car-park is oppositely also for PKW.

From the airport

City Airport Train/ CAT  to Landstrasse/Wien Mitte,
then switch to the Streetcar (Strassenbahn) O, exit at "Südtirolerplatz". From there it´s about 50m to the hotel.
OR: With the Train (Schnellbahn) to Südtirolerplatz, from there it´s only 50m to the hotel.

From the trainstation

From Bahnhof Meidling Trainstation: The Schnellbahn takes you directly to Südtirolerplatz,
almost to the Hotel Congress.
From Westbahnhof Trainstation: Please enter the U-Bahn line U3, exit at Stephansplatz,
switch to the U1, exit at Südtirolerplatz, and you are 50m from the hotel.

Today the Hotel Congress is also comfortably accessible by car using the Autobahn exit "Landstrasser Hauptstrasse"
on the "Gürtel" (Belt Parkway) direction "Südbahnhof" (South Railway Station).
There is a public parking lot directly across from the hotel. Centrally located and directly across
from the "Südbahnhof" (South Railway Station), we are only a short distance from the Belvedere Palace
and the underground. The State Opera is a mere 12 minutes away on foot.
Whether visiting Vienna for business or pleasure, it is fast and easy
to get everywhere you need to go be it the airport or a concert.

The walking distance to the opera is just 15 minutes and with the underground you need approximately 3 minutes
to get to the opera or to the Stephansplatz. Further you will find the embassy quarter,
the pedestrian zone and shopping street Favoritenstrasse, the Karlskirche, the 20er Haus
(museum of the 20th century),
the Arsenal (Army-historical museum) in vicinity.

A building with history

The hotel was built in 1900, back the it was still called "HOTEL RIVA". So even in the times of the emporer Kaiser Franz Joseph
it was a place for travellers from all around Europe.
A well-known example is Franz Kafka. The hotel is mentioned in his "Letters to Milena" ("Briefe an Milena"), which were also composed right there.
They came from the south of Europe by train to Vienna for all reasons. One of the guests was Franz Kafka who met Milena here in 1917 .
